Some sessions just stick with you—and this one with Hannah and Shayne is definitely one of them. Their engagement session was everything I love about photographing couples in Savannah: spontaneous, full of character, and bursting with creative energy.
We met in Downtown Savannah, surrounded by the city’s timeless architecture and oak-lined streets. The plan was simple: walk, explore, and let their connection lead the way. What unfolded was a beautiful blend of laughter, quiet moments, and unexpected fun.
Hannah and Shayne have a kind of chemistry that makes photographing them feel effortless. From the first shot, they were completely at ease with one another, which gave me the freedom to get creative with composition, lighting, and movement. These are the kinds of shoots where creativity flows naturally—where every corner we turn becomes a new canvas.
We started by weaving through Savannah’s iconic historic streets, soaking in the charm that only this city can offer. Colorful homes, cobblestone walkways, and moss-draped trees created a dreamy backdrop for their session. At one point, we ducked into a cozy little ice cream parlor, adding a fun, candid twist to their gallery (because love and ice cream? Always a yes).
As we continued exploring, the skies opened up into a light rain, but instead of stopping, we found shelter at the Savannah Theatre. The vintage marquee lights glowing through the drizzle made for some of my favorite photos of the day—romantic, cinematic, and full of emotion. Sometimes the rain adds just the right amount of drama in the best way.
What I loved most about this session was how it felt like we were capturing real moments rather than posed ones. Hannah and Shayne simply enjoyed each other, and I had the privilege of documenting the way they laughed, held hands, and leaned into the beauty of the day, even with a few weather curveballs.
Their wedding is coming up this fall, and if it’s anything like their engagement session, I already know it’s going to be full of heart, fun, and unforgettable memories. I feel so lucky to be the one capturing it all.
